Seems like Sony has been too focused on hardware in 2016. This year brought us the PlayStation 4 Slim, PlayStation 4 Pro, and company’s first virtual reality headset, the PlayStation VR. Hardware was clearly where their head was at this year, but now it is time to change gears.
Sony is telling PlayStation fans to get excited about all of the “amazing” games that will be released for the console in 2017. We sure hope so.
PlayStation Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that PlayStation fans can expect to see “amazing software” being released for the PlayStation next year. This new software is going to take advantage of the new hardware that the company released in 2016. Makes sense of course. You have to have the hardware first, if you want great software. We know about stuff like the new God of War title, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Persona 6, and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. But what else?
Bloodborne producer Teruyuki Toriyama has said that his team is working on “ambitious titles” as well as ideas for entirely new games. Probably not Bloodborne 2 though. We can also expect Sony to release some new virtual reality experiences for the PlayStation VR, aside from working with developers to ensure that some of the top games expected next year have support for 4K gaming on the PlayStation 4 Pro. 2017 looks like it may be a great year for Sony.
